"OK, I know this is out of my known history painting range but occasionally I'll jump out. About 5 years ago Marvin-Alonzo Greer came up to pose for something else. He mentioned he had a complete outfit of the World War I 369th Infantry "Harlem Hellfighters" and should he bring it? Wisely, (for a change) I said sure and it was impressive indeed. A superb recreation. The 369th chalked up a very impressive battle record during the war serving under French command. Noted for their bravery and toughness they received the Croix de Guerre. We added a WW1 German camouflage helmet from my collection and five years later I finally got around to doing this. Watercolor and gouache on paper." Don Troiani, May 1, 2026
